This month’s 3D World features an item on a recient Corona spot done, apparently, by our good buddies over at TopixFX.

A tourist causes an Indian city to take on a Mexican feel when he opens a bottle of Corona, charming snakes out of thier baskets to samba in a new spot for the beer. Topix used Realviz’s Matchmover Pro for tracking the CG snakes, while the rest of the 3D components included modeling, animation, lighting and rendering were completed using XSI. The key requirement was photo-realism. “We used displacement mapping because the snake scales had to be seen in profile,” explained Topix producer Brigitte Angrignon. “And it’s a HD spot, so we had to build massive maps.”
